14k Gold Fede Ring with Orange Sapphire
A handmade fede ring featuring an orange rose cut sapphire delicately set into the back of a hand-carved decorative band. The "Fede" ring depicts two hands clasped together and dates back to ancient Rome when it was given as a token of deep affection between two people. This can be worn by anyone as a reference to their relationship or as an historic tradition.
Cast in solid 14k gold, this one-of-a-kind ring has texture and detailing that evokes rings of past eras, particularly the medieval period when love tokens between two people were a common gift to be exchanged. The hidden sapphire is a nod to this history, where rings often had secret inscriptions or hidden details known only to the wearer. We detail some of the history of this storied tradition in our post on fede rings that you can view here.
This sapphire is originally from Songea, Tanzania, is 5mm in diameter, and weighs .43 carats. This one-of-a-kind ring was hand carved from jewelers wax to the fit the specific dimensions of this stone, and was cast and set locally in NYC.
